GoodRx sells employers a brand GLP-1 benefit

Take. Employers and Medicare are both building cheaper routes to brand GLP-1s. Expect fewer new cash-pay patients from people with a job that offers the benefit or a Medicare card. We'd move acquisition budget toward patients those programs don't reach, such as the self-employed. We'd also make sure our prescribers can write for patients whose employer signs up.

GoodRx launched Employer Direct last Thursday. Employers pick which brand GLP-1s to cover from Wegovy, Wegovy HD, the Wegovy pill, Foundayo and the Zepbound KwikPen. They set their own contribution as a fixed amount, a percentage or the full cost.

The GoodRx release says GoodRx is an approved administrator for Lilly Employer Connect. It also works directly with Novo Nordisk. Novo's Tom Scales said in the release that "Wegovy pricing for employer programs will be available at retail pharmacies nationwide." Employees can join with a prescription from their own provider.

Medicare is moving too. Truveta Research looked at GLP-1 prescribing for obesity after the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge pilot began in July. Among patients 65 and older, the share getting a prescription rose from 5.6% in June to 6.8% in September. Zepbound prescribing in that group rose 71.7%. The data are preliminary and haven't been peer reviewed.
